FREEDOM SWIM
FREEDOM SWIM
HISTORIC RECORD
Freedom Swim was the inaugural humanitarian ceremonial expedition of YEMOJA SWIMS, launched on September 21, 2024 across the sacred waters of Bosomtwe, the largest natural lake in West Africa and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve formed by a meteorite impact. Aligned with Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day, the initiative united endurance swimming, humanitarian work, environmental stewardship, public education, African culture, spirituality, wellness, combat and other sports, energy mastery, dance, fashion, ecotourism awareness, music and human connection through water into a single historic movement
The story was first championed by Hammer Nti and later narrated by Kofi Adoma Nwanwani on Kofi TV, before expanding across major Ghanaian media including OMGVoice, Adom FM, UTV Ghana, YEN News, Nhyira FM, YFM Ghana, Okay FM, Hello FM, and Fox FM Ghana, among many others. Related digital coverage reached an audience approaching 100 million people, introducing YEMOJA SWIMS and Gurumay’s humanitarian mission to audiences across Ghana and beyond
Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai supported Gurumay’s wellness purpose, while the Chiefs of the Ashanti Region offered high praise for Milana’s mission to raise awareness about protecting Lake Bosomtwe and its surrounding environment
